Cavs sweep Hawks, OKC tie Spurs series

The Cleveland Cavaliers completed a series sweep of the Atlanta Hawks to move into the NBA Eastern Conference finals, while Oklahoma City Thunder tied their second-round series with the San Antonio Spurs.

LeBron James put in a dominant performance to move into a sixth Eastern Conference final series in as many seasons as the Cavs edged the Hawks 100-99.

The four-time MVP had 21 points, 10 rebounds and nine assists as the Cavs won their eighth straight game to start the play-offs.

LeBron was helped by Kevin Love (27 points) and Kyrie Irving (21) at the Philips Arena on Sunday.

Dennis Schroder led the Hawks with 21 points, while Paul Millsap chipped in with 19 points and nine rebounds.

The Cavs will play either the Toronto Raptors or Miami Heat in the Eastern final, with the former leading their series 2-1.

Oklahoma City Thunder tied their second-round Western Conference series against the San Antonio Spurs with a 111-97 win.

The Spurs led after the first quarter but the Thunder won the next three to tie the best-of-seven series at 2-2.

Kevin Durant posted an incredible 41 points at the Chesapeake Energy Arena to lead the Thunder.

He was helped by Russell Westbrook’s 14 points and 15 rebounds, while Dion Waiters (17 points), Steven Adams (16) and Enes Kanter (11) also reached double figures.

Tony Parker (22 points), Kawhi Leonard (21) and LaMarcus Aldridge (20) posted for the Spurs but it was not enough as OKC ran out 14-point winners.
