Fury targets Klitschko, Wilder and Martin in bid to unify heavyweight division

Tyson Fury has launched an audacious attempt to unify boxing’s heavyweight division by naming a three-man hit list of fights for 2016.

British fighter Fury caused an upset by dethroning Wladimir Klitschko to win the WBA, IBF and WBO world heavyweight titles in November.

Fury committed to a rematch with Klitschko and was subsequently stripped of his IBF belt for failing to face mandatory challenger Vyacheslav Glazkov, who was beaten by Charles Martin for the vacant title.

The 27-year-old has now included Klitschko and Martin in a list of fights he wants in the coming year, as well as the unbeaten WBC world heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder.

“The fights I want [in] 2016: Klitschko, Wilder, Martin,” Fury posted on Twitter. “Can we make these fights happen?”

As yet a date and a venue has yet to be agreed for Fury’s rematch with Klitschko, although it is reported that the two will mix it again it either May or June.

A bout with Wilder would be potentially explosive after Fury confronted the American in the ring following his knockout victory over Artur Szpilka last month, and with both men possessing an unbeaten professional record the showdown would draw plenty of interest.
