On his return from injury , Warri Wolves poster boy Gbolahan Salami was delighted to score a hat – trick to take his tally this season to 13 goals, as the Delta State team thrashed one of the title contenders, Sunshine Stars, 3-0 in the Nigerian top flight.
The Nigeria international has chosen to remain modest despite hitting a treble, stating that Sunshine Stars gave Warri Wolves a run for their money even though the scoreline didn’t suggest that.
“It wasn’t an easy game, I am so happy that I scored three goals. Sunshine Stars are a good team and they have good players, ” said Gbolahan Salami to allnigeriasoccer.
“I have not been playing for three to four weeks because of injury so I am happy to be back and score.
“I want to score many goals before the league ends but I won’t say I’ll score 16,17 or 26 goals. I want to take the games as they come.”
Having missed out on the Super Eagles squad for their upcoming friendlies against Democratic Republic of Congo and Cameroon, coach Sunday Oliseh compensated Salami by calling him up for the CHAN qualifier against Burkina Faso.
