Nigeria vs Egypt: What happened on and off the pitch
It almost looked like the match was not going to be played, as the Kaduna fans came in their numbers to support the Super Eagles. The 25,000 capacity stadium was filled in and out. The stadium was packed and some were outside trying to force themselves in.
After all the uncertainties surrounding the match because of the crowd, the game kicked off.
The teams were cautions, the Egyptians came to execute a game plan and it worked out as planned.
They came to soak the pressure and hit Nigeria on counter. While the game was going on the multitude outside the stadium were trying to force themselves in despite the stadium being filled to capacity.
Samson Siasia side who knew nothing short 3 points is what they needed started brightly.
They didn’t get a goal untill 2nd half when Etebo pounced an Iheanacho’s attempt to put the Eagles in the front.
The Eagles would have sealed had Victor Moses who dribbled the Egyptian goalie converted his chance.
The Egyptian scored in the last minute when Mohamed Salah was allowed space to run. The Eagles protested the goal as it seemed Mo Salah was in an offside position when he got the ball. The protest was thrown away and the the goal stood.
It ended all square in Kaduna. And the Super Eagles have everything to play for when they play the Egyptians in Alexandria on Tuesday.
While the Kaduna fans were trying to find their way out of the stadium unhappy, the few Egyptians that came to support their team were happy they got a point away from home.
