Fury says Klitschko rematch will be on October 29

World heavyweight champion Tyson Fury has stated his rematch with Wladimir Klitschko will take place in Manchester on October 29.

Fury was due to defend the WBA and WBO titles he won from Klitschko last November on July 9, but a sprained ankle forced him to postpone the bout.

The 27-year-old has revealed the fight is finally set to take place in little over three months.

In a post on Twitter, Fury wrote: “16 weeks Saturday till [sic, until] I blast Klitschko spark out … Can’t wait #manchesteroctober29”.

The reigning heavyweight champion’s trainer and uncle, Peter Fury, previously denied claims Fury sustained his ankle injury when leaping over a barrier at a techno music festival in Wales.

Last week, Fury’s promoter Hennessey Sports moved to rubbish The Sunday Mirror’s allegation that the boxer is being probed after testing positive for banned anabolic steroid nandrolone in a sample taken prior to dethroning Klitschko.
