‘I’ve suffered this year, but I’m not worried’ - Rafael Nadal

Fourteen-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal has admitted that he has “suffered” on the court this year, but has no fear of failing to return to his best form.

The Spaniard has slumped to seventh in the world rankings after getting knocked out of all four major tournaments before or at the quarter-final stage.

“Especially during the first six months I was feeling very tired - every time I was playing and practising,” Nadal told Sky Sports News.

“Being honest with you, I suffered this year, especially for those months, [but] the last couple of months I’m enjoying again and I’m not worried about my tennis level.

“I have to change, yes. I have to change one very important thing - be the player I was one year ago.”

Nadal last won a Grand Slam in 2014 when he scooped his ninth French Open title.
