IGP Flickers coach Monday Emmanuel lauds Rivers players
IGP Flickers coach Monday Emmanuel was full of praise for Rivers players saying their togetherness, determination and discipline gave them victory over his side.
Monday Emmanuel who told sportlineng his team would win the title decider played down the pitch condition as the reason why his team lost to Rivers at the National Hockey League 1 Tournament saying he “has no excuse” because both teams played on the pitch.
“I have no excuse, if they can defeat us despite the state of the pitch and the weather I have no excuse.
“We were supposed to score them too but its unfortunate, we didn’t convert our chances.
“If there was no water on the pitch and it didn’t rain, we would have beaten them, I am very certain of that.”
“I like the confidence shown by their players.
“If you are winning stay on your ground and be resolute, I think that’s their secret because they didn’t play better than us.
“I am still standing on my ground its unfortunate that we lost, but they are disciplined. You know if you play together as a team that’s when you’ll be able to achieve your goals.
“I am not saying we lost because we were not disciplined, the pitch contributed to why we lost today,” he said.
